Thank you for visiting the Small Acts website!
Small Acts is a 100% volunteer organization. We aim for the highest standards by using less than 5% of your donation for necessary administration costs. All other monies go directly to helping the children of Jamaica.
Recent UNICEF data estimates over 5,000 Jamaican children live in institutions and are deprived of parental care. Many more live on the streets. One in five babies is born to a teenage mother, and adolescents do not have sufficient access to information, skills and services for HIV/AIDS knowledge and prevention. AIDS is the second leading cause of death for people between the ages of 15 and 24, with adolescent girls being the most vulnerable. Violence, neglect and poverty are serious problems in Jamaica, and almost one of every two Jamaicans who live in poverty is a child. Children with disabilities are at the greatest disadvantage.
Small Acts volunteers work with orphanages, children's homes and families in need on the island of Jamaica. Though we don't pretend that we can solve all the social problems affecting modern day Jamaica, we can work to make a difference to the prospects of a large number of these children.
